Countries are built by people and not by politicians and we are taking the proposition that we must give leadership to the country he voiced.

Harvard alumnus Dr Athukorala giving a in-depth analysis shared how the Sri Lankan economy has shrunk by 8.2% last quarter whilst the interest rates has increased from 8% to 32% which means that businesses cannot access capital from the bank unless one was making super natural profit. He went on to state that The dollar rate which was at Rs. 203/- is today at Rs.370/- which means that a products raw material and packaging cost has virtually doubled. From November onwards the corporate tax which will be at 30% means that, doing business in Sri Lanka will be near impossible unless the retail price is increased. The food inflation which was at 85.8% whilst non food items moved up to 62.8%  in September,2022 will lease to enormous pressure in the consumer wallet. We now need some creative strategies to rebuild the country he said citing Focusing on Free Trade Agreements( FTA’s) with other countries to increase the production of apparel, tea, rubber, spices are some strategies that must be pursued whilst driving local production of vegetable will ensure food security are some suggestions already practices by countries like Egypt he said.

Apparently the latest reseach insights report that over  50% of the households state that they cannot afford to purchase full cream milk powder and Biscuits. To be specific 67% say that they cannot afford to buy cream biscuits and 50% plain biscuits he said. He also cited that almost 35% of the households are reducing the quality purchased of full cream milk powder, whilst 21% are moving to smaller packs whilst 18% have stopped the purchase of full cream milk powder( FCMP). Which means that we must find ways to sustain business which is what we are expecting from the dissertation reseach that will be presented by the MBA students commented Dr. Athukorala.
