Aarya by Indi; fashion show inspired by local art, architecture
“It’s been a dream that has been with me for the past four years and now finally it’s coming to life,” says couturier and head creative director of House of Indi Pvt Ltd., Indi Yapa Abeywardena announcing the launch of her Spring and Summer 2023 fashion show titled ‘Aarya by Indi’, on November 18 at the Colombo Municipal Council.
“The show will be an amalgamation of storytelling, textiles and history. The Aarya Collection embodies a sense of heritage, and is heavily inspired by the ancient paintings and architecture of Sri Lanka. I would describe it as a translation of the past to the present,” says Indi. The collection was named both after her niece and to signify the cultural and historical context of the show, Aarya, meaning ‘noble lady’ a reference to the Hindu goddess Parvati/Durga.
A panel discussion was also held featuring sponsors and partners for the upcoming show.
