SLDF goes local and global
The Sri Lanka Design Festival returns this year from December 2 to 4, bringing the latest in design and the creative industries to a platform with global reach under this year’s theme – ‘panoramically new, panoramically local, design lokayak’.
The festival, originally conceptualised and presented by the Academy of Design (AOD) in 2009 will offer a series of exhibitions, shows, talks and knowledge-sharing sessions looking at the panorama of possibilities that this vision presents. The works of regional designers, entrepreneurs, and businesses that have been affected by economic challenges will be featured.
The SLDF aspires to promote a stronger involvement of Sri Lanka’s creative sectors in its economic recovery by connecting exciting solutions, ideas, and processes that are locally based but relevant to audiences worldwide. All the projects, designers, entrepreneurs, companies and brands that SLDF turns the spotlight on this year, are examples of the idea of designing locally and sustainably, within Sri Lanka with the world consumer in mind.
Two significant events will take place as part of SLDF 2022: the AOD Grad Exhibition and Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Sri Lanka.
