Applause 25: Gateway’s Silver Notes of Broadway
View(s):Opening to a Full House in Colombo and Kandy, Applause 25: Gateway’s Silver Notes of Broadway was a resounding success.
This production was a part of the 25th Anniversary celebrations of Gateway College and it featured 25 songs from 25 musicals from both the Western World and Sri Lankan Theatre.
The joint production performed by the students of all 5 Gateway Colleges – Colombo, Dehiwala, Kandy, Negombo and Ratmalana had a cast of over 250 students of all ages.
Applause 25 highlighted some of the world’s most famous Musical masterpieces – from a range of shows such as The Sound of Music, Les Misérables, Hamilton, Aida, MJ The Musical, We Will Rock You (Bohemian Rapsody), The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Grease, Fame, The Lion King, Vikurthi, Mary Poppins and Thatu.

The show was performed in Colombo on the 2nd at the Lionel Wendt and in Kandy at the Gateway College Auditorium on the 7th. Spearheaded by the veteran dramatist Kala Keerthi Jerome de Silva, Applause 25 captivated the audience rekindling memories of well-known tunes while offering new perspectives for the contemporary audience.
