The ICARE 2022 is organized for the 8th consecutive time on 15th December 2022 at the university premises. The conference will be conducted under the theme of “Accountants’ Role in Economic Revival”. Accountancy profession plays a vital role as a guardian of the public interest and contributes to the development of sustainable economies in the future. Sri Lankan economy is currently facing a period of significant downturn where the rate of economic growth in the second quarter of 2022 was -8.4%. Corruption has infected every sector of Sri Lankan society. It hurts people’s human rights, makes their standard of living worse, and makes them lose faith in the government. Corruption stops foreign investors from coming in, slows down economic growth, and makes inequality, poverty, and unemployment worse. The lack of accountability, transparency, and moral leadership, as well as the lack of effective deterrents and punishments, all make it more common. Accountants are well-positioned inside enterprises and the public sector, and they possess the required skill sets to lead the economic recovery.
