SLIIT Business School students reach another milestone in academic publishing

A testimony to the unmatched and unparalleled quality of the education provided by SLIIT, exemplary students Rumali Kaluarachchi, Vinuri Arambawatta & Heyli Perera have published a research paper in Quality and Quantity, which is a high-ranked Scopus-indexed journal and classified under the top four percent (4%) of the Scopus database (Q1 quartile) with Scopus CiteScore 7.5 and 62 as H-index in Scimago. Also, this journal belongs to B ranked journal in the Australian Business Deans Council (ABDC) ranking.

SCOPUS is the largest database of peer-reviewed literature in the world, managed by the prestigious Elsevier Publishing House and used by ranking and accreditation institutions. This can be considered a great milestone for the institute as the course is achieving such a high score on the world-renowned metric for evaluating the cumulative impact of an author’s scholarly output and performance is quite a demanding task. Publishing a paper in such a journal is a remarkable achievement in one’s academic career especially if the authors are still in the course of their graduation.

The paper titled ‘The changing face of HR professionals’ expectations amidst COVID-19: a comparison in between Sri Lanka and foreign context” is based on the final year research project of regular batch 2021 and was further developed by SLIIT Business School Senior Lecturer Mr. Ranitha Weerarathna together with SLIIT Business School Senior Lecturer Ms. Mano Weligodapola and SLIIT Business School Lecturer Ms. Nilmini Rathnayake.

Offering a brief overview of the research, Senior Lecturer of SLIIT Business School Mr. Ranitha Weerarathna shared, “The COVID-19 pandemic has significantly changed the way organisations all around the world operate by accelerating an abrupt switch to digital business processes for business continuity. In order to adjust to these unanticipated changes brought upon by the pandemic, organisations were compelled to reassess what is expected of HR experts. The goal of the study was to assess what is expected of HR professionals in the workplace. According to the findings of this research, a clear difference between the expectations of local HR professionals and foreign HR professionals can be observed.”

Extending his gratitude to the SLIIT Business School faculty community, he continued: “The influence of extraordinary, inspirational leadership and motivated scholars and researchers coming together is what made this achievement possible. I would like to extend my sincere thanks to the Module Leader of Comprehensive Research Project (CRP) 2021, Prof. Wasantha Rajapakshe, the Examiner, Senior Lecturer of SLIIT Business School Ms. Anupama Dissanayake and Dean of SLIIT Business School Prof. Samantha Thelijjagoda for encouraging the students to conduct a fully qualitative study in both local and international context and for their commitment of excelling as a multidisciplinary, research-driven university”.
