Century commemoration song for HEC
View(s):Holy Emmanuel Church (HEC), Moratuwa, (since 1860) will be celebrating its 162nd Anniversary this December. Founded by the well known Philanthropist in Moratuwa, the late Jeronis De Soysa, it is one of the largest Anglican parishes in the country.
To commemorate this landmark, musician Priya Peiris of La Bamba fame has composed a song titled ‘Ape Devasthaane’ in association with his band mate and former chief choir master of the church Lasla Fernando, sung by a group of parishioners.
The song features the vocals of Lasla Fernando along with Nalin Fernando, Shirley Silva, Ranesha Goonesekera and Nimashini Cumaranatunge.
The song describes the upbringing of a child in a spiritual environment reaching adulthood, giving adoration and glorification to the church.
The audio recording of the song ‘Ape Devasthaane’ was handled by Udara Fernando at his home studio.
