Monodramas ‘Untouched’ and ‘Love and Lockdown’ in town

Internationally acclaimed Sujeewa Patinisekara’s ‘Untouched’ and M. Safeer’s ‘Love and Lock Down’ Plays will be staged at 7 pm on December 13 and 14 at 7.00 pm in December at Elphinstone Theatre, Colombo 10.
Sujeewa Patinisekara’s “Untouched” play has represented Sri Lanka in theatre festivals held in United Arab Emirates, India, Egypt and Mongolia, becoming the best theatre production at the Sham El Sheikh Theatre Festival in Egypt and acclaimed the highest award ever won by a Sri Lankan play at Saint Muse Theatre Festival in Mongolia. It has brought the pride of Sri Lankan theatre art to the world by being nominated for the best direction, best Play, Best Choreograph and Best Actress awards.
Veteran dramaturge M. Safeer’s “Love and Lockdown” held its Local premiere at the first Monodrama festival held in Sri Lanka last year and also this was Safeer’s consecutive 50th theatre encounter. Also, its first international premiere was held last April at the Adana National Theatre in Turkey, joining the only 3 international plays selected for the month-long Adana Drama Festival. In the future, “Love and Lockdown” is scheduled to be staged in the United Emirates and many countries including India, Bangladesh, Egypt, Alexandria, Romania and Mongolia. For the first time “Love and Lockdown” will be performed in both Sinhala and English languages. Subuddhi Lakmali plays the role of this two unique duo of creations while Sets and choreograph done by M. Safeer and lighting by Wasantha Kumara and Sujeeva Pathinisekara , Stage Management done by Nirosh Kaviratne, M. Safras and Sharaz. ‘Love and Lockdown’ is penned by Prasad Wickramarathna.
