France to re-commence academic and student exchange programmes
View(s):France will take into account the expansion of higher education in Sri Lanka and plans to begin academic programmes and student exchange programmes next year, newly appointed French Ambassador Jean-François Pactet said recently.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, France had to halt its previous academic and student exchange programmes and it is necessary to re-commence these programmes next year, he added.
“We are still working and observing new areas to assist Sri Lanka. France may not have contributed much to the development of the education sector, but I would like to extend assistance to this sector to bring about specific advancements next year,” Mr. Pactet said.
The French Higher Education and Research Ministry and the French European and Foreign Affairs Ministry jointly regulate Campus France, a local public institution in France.
The Campus France organisation was founded in 2010 and has the responsibility of promoting French higher education and facilitating the entry of foreign students into France. -YP
