Trinity thrash Gurukula by innings
Trinity College completed a comprehensive win by an inning and 37 runs against Gurukula College in their Under-19 Inter-School cricket encounter concluded at Asgiriya yesterday. Trinity, batting first declared at 256 for the loss of eight wickets, and in replay Gurukula were shot out for 109 in their first innings, forcing a follow on, where the visitors were bundled out for 110.
Trinity’s spin combination claimed bulk of the wickets, 17 of them, out of the 20 wickets. Gurukula’s chief destroyer was off-spinner Tharana Wimaladharma, who took a match bag of 11 for 44. He was unplayable, and in the second innings claimed eight wickets which forced Gurukula to pack their bags before tea on the second day.
