The Government is ready to initiate necessary procedures towards an educational transformation according priority to introduce modern information technology systems and updating the existing systems to streamline administration in school education and examination divisions.

The plans required to carry out an educational transformation within the country have already been devised since it is needed to move for a transformation of education rather than reforms, Education Ministry sources disclosed.

The amendments relevant to the educational transformation are to be implemented based on six parts on the directions Education Minister Susil Premajayantha, a senior official emphasised.

A document from the Department of Government Information noted that structural inconsistencies in these examination systems and the unnecessary administrative delays related to technical procedures are now being rectified and settled.

The computer division of the Examinations Department is presently carrying out its activities including accepting applications via Internet, admission downloading, issuance of result certificates on line, online results verification, online confirmation, and examination results releasing online etc without any hindrance, several senior officials disclosed.

All these result sheets are double checked manually to avoid mistakes and maintain credibility of the department, one of the senior officials told the Business Times.

The new updated system instead of the existing computer system is now in operation with modern facilities and this practice of updating is done once in every 7-8 years.

Further, the relevant update has been made on the recommendation by a committee of experienced university professors and scholars, he said.

The new facilities included in this system have been used based on the needs of the department and further development work is being carried out according to the new requirements.

Although the training related to this improved system has been delayed due to the current economic crisis in the country, the work has been managed with the professional competence of the staff, he added.

Formal and approved payment is being made to staff based on the time and work done after duty hours while considering the performance of the tasks related to conducting exams and issuing the results.
