Peace

Peace, to me,
Would be to sit with a cake of cheese
And perhaps a glass of fresh juice,
The sun on my face and a light breeze,
Near streams, ballroom dancing.
The world, still and calm;
No disturbances,
And such is my definition of peace,
Selfishly so,
But I am human, and what is human but selfish?
Ah,
A world of selflessness, kindness,
Understanding, empathy,
A place where I can breathe,
Than suffocate and choke.
Then, perhaps I would live and not survive.
A world where differences are accepted,
And the intoxication of power and wealth,
Non-existent,
And the law of Justice
Plays no games of prejudice.
Human beings remain Human beings,
Rather than the Monsters we have become,
And Monsters remain Monsters,
Hidden in the depths of the books of
Flying ships and talking frogs.
A world of peace.
Utter tranquility, and perhaps then,
I could sit with a cake of cheese
And a glass of fresh juice,
The sun on my face and a light breeze,
Near streams, ballroom dancing,
And the world, still and calm;
No disturbances,
Only peace.
Then I wonder–
Is this something to be awoken from,
Or truly a possibility?
