Lyceum redefines Christmas with an eco-friendly approach
View(s):We decorate things we care about; and the places we love. We use decorations to make things beautiful, to enrich the meaning of a special place or occasion and express its purpose.
As adults, we must not miss opportunities to praise creative efforts, especially by children, which can give us a new impression of something synonymous with great joy, love and happiness.
The Lyceum family which includes all Lyceum International Schools namely the branches from Nugegoda, Wattala, Panadura, Kurunegala, Nuwara Eliya, Avissawella, Anuradhapura and Ratnapura, along with the Leaf Schools situated in Kottawa, Kuliyapitiya, Kaduwela, Kalutara, Eheliyagoda, Kuruwita, Kegalle and Negombo, celebrated Christmas 2022 with seasonal decor aligned to the theme “An Eco-Friendly Christmas”.
Mr. Rajiv Ekanayake, the CEO of the Lyceum International Schools, commented on this concept – “Due to the prevailing economic crisis in our country, the teachers and students were advised not to restrict themselves to the norm of using brand new materials for decor, but to shift into reusable material– upcycled items for Christmas decorations”.
This collective and creative approach was extended into an event – the “Best Christmas Decor Competition” for all students, academic and non-academic staff of all Lyceum Schools.
All thanks and appreciation goes to the teachers, students, staff and parents, for their efforts, talents and coordination towards delivering such a delightful Christmas to all.
Let us all embrace this season of Christmas and the year-end glory, as we’re about to depart from 2022 to another New Year.
All of us, as students, teachers and parents can bring meaning to our lives by caring and sharing. So let us make these times meaningful and memorable for everyone.
Together, we faced hardships and uncertainty, but we will bond and prevail as we all dream for a better future.
