Anjala slams 187, Mahanama amass 547
Sri Lanka youth player Anjala Bandara slammed a career best unbeaten187 for Mahanama Colombo against Zahira in the drawn Under-19 inter-school cricket encounter concluded at Maradana yesterday.
The match was called off early due to bad light when Zahira was on 189 for 9. Anjala who was unbeaten on 79 at the start of final day’s play, struck 28 boundaries and two sixes in his 250 ball marathon knock as Mahanama resuming from their overnight score of 393 for 6, scored a massive 547.
S. Thomas’ missed out an opportunity to record a well deserved outright win against St. Benedict’s at Mt. Lavinia. The Thomians needed just one wicket, and St. Benedict’s were slightly leading by six runs when play ended. St. Benedict’s were bowled out for 104 in their first essay, to which the hosts replied at 205-8 before declaring. At close of play St. Benedict’s were 107-9.
Bad light and rain hampered proceedings in the other matches too and was called off early.
