First innings honours for Trinity
In a game that confined to only an inning each, hosts Trinity College took major honours against Maliyadeva College in a traditional Inter-School Under-19 cricket encounter, which ended in an obvious draw at the Asgiriya Stadium yesterday.
Put into bat, Maliyadeva scored 173 before being bowled out, with Gayan Weerasinghe scoring a breezy 60. Trinity off spinner Vathila Udara claimed a five-wicket haul. In response Trinity made 203, but none of their batsmen were able to score beyond 37. Maliyadeva spinner Dimath Abeysinghe claimed six wickets as the game ended with majority of wickets being claimed by spinners.
