St. Peter’s receive Nabco boost
View(s):The St. Peter’s College first XV rugby outfit will don the ‘Nabco’ logo prominently on their playing jerseys, after the school that celebrated its centenary year was bolstered by the backing of Nabco UK as platinum sponsors. St. Peter’s College, one of the premier rugby playing schools that has produced top class players to the national setup in sports, has a well-structured plan for its rugby season, which mainly covers the league, knockout and 7s competitions.
“It’s indeed a great boost to St. Peter’s Rugby, to have Nabco on board as our platinum sponsor, the first time they are engaging in any sort of such commitment in Sri Lanka. As always, we have an energetic working committee that works tirelessly to make sure our rugby teams are well nurtured and taken care of. It’s not an easy task to manage a team nowadays and this sponsorship gives us the much needed strength,” stated Mangala Dharmapriya, the President of SPC Rugby Foundation.
Nabco UK, a United Kingdom based establishment, headed by Sri Lankan Trishan Satyadeva, makes the initial move in their venture to expand its wings in the island with this sponsorship.
“Me being a Sri Lankan, with the economic crisis in Sri Lanka, I was adamant that we should contribute in some way to the country, to the schools and the economy in general in time to come. We are here with a longer goal and this is the first step, with St. Peter’s,” stated Satyadeva, the Managing Director of Nabco UK.
The sponsorship agreement was signed by officials of St. Peter’s College, headed by its Rector Rev. Fr. Rohitha Rodrigo and Nabco UK officials headed by Satyadeva at a special ceremony held at the college. St. Peter’s, a side that has won the league, knockout and 7s titles many a time, will be one of the top contenders in the upcoming Schools Rugby League 2023. The coaching staff is headed by Sanath Martis.
