Zonal Education Offices to handle appeals, Edu Min to stay out of it
View(s):The respective Zonal Education Offices will be entrusted to handle appeals of Grade 1 admissions to schools, the Education Ministry has decided.
The selection process of Grade 1 students are to be completed and the final list is to be announced by March or early April.
Education Minister Susil Premajayantha said that all appeals need to be sent to the Zonal Education Offices, and any appeals sent to the ministry too will be directed to the respective Zonal Education Office.
He said that the Ministry will not intervene as any letters or directives issued regarding admissions could be cited in courts. This year’s Grade 1 students are expected to commence classes from April onwards. -DWI
