Gateway and Royal Institute claim G.T. Bandara Challenge Football Trophy for juniors
View(s):Gateway College and Royal Institute emerged Under-18 and Under-14 champions at the Inter-International Schools Football Championship played for the G.T. Bandara Challenge Trophy at the R.A.D. Janaka Ranawaka grounds in Moragasmulla, Rajagiriya.
The tournament was for young and aspiring footballers of the age groups of Under-18 and Under-14, as Gateway College overcame Elizabeth Moir International School to emerge the winners of the Under-18 category.
In the Under-14 final, Team Royal Institute defeated Colombo International School after a close battle, which had all spectators on the edge of their seats at the much awaited event for all international school football lovers. The final matches were held on of January 28 amidst a good number of spectators.
The tournament came alive with the commitment of the coaches, the Royal Institute Sports Department and main sponsors, Royal Institute of Colombo (RIC) and Royal Institute Smart Academy (RISA), who made a joint effort in organising this tournament which was appreciated by all the participants.
