Kandy Lake to get a make-over

Kandy Lake is to get a bolstering with the intervention of Central Province Governor Lalith U Gamage. He was addressing a discussion as to how best development work, which has come to a standstill, could be opened up for the benefit of the people.
One of the main items on the agenda was the Kandy Lake, which he described as an attraction not only to foreign visitors, but also to local people. He said that the Lake should go through a restoration process.
Central Province Department of Irrigation Director Engineer Mrs K D Kumudini Deera presented the work already done and what should be done. She said that much of the work was done even in difficult times and much more could be done.
Kandy Lake was constructed on the advice of the last King of Kandy Sri Vikrama Rajasinha. Later, it went into a state where it had to be revived by the late General Anuruddha Ratwatte, who took it under the Irrigation Department and rehabilitated it with then Director of Irrigation Engineer Mrs Godaliyadde.
