Galle, Dambulla assured of NSL final slots
The completion of the third day’s play of the 4-day National Super League semi-final encounters, played at R. Premadasa Stadium and P. Sara Oval, points to a clash in the final between Galle and Dambulla. Both teams have already taken comfortable first innings lead to gain entry to the final.
Galle, having made a mammoth score of 658 for 9, was sitting pretty on day two with Kandy struggling on 62 for 4. Kandy, resuming from their overnight score was bowled out for a low score of 227 runs. Apart from Ahan Wickramasinghe, other batsmen failed to make any impression. Galle, opting to bat the second time, ended the day on 145 for 1 and by virtue of their first innings win, they are assured of entering the final.
Meanwhile, it was the same in the match between Dambulla and Jaffna. Dambulla, having made a formidable score of 426 runs, bowled out Jaffna for a score of just 236 runs. Jaffna was 220 for 7 overnight, but lost the three remaining wickets for just 16 runs. Dambuula was batting for the second time and when stumps were drawn yesterday, they were 254 for 6. They too are assured of the final slot. The matches will end today.
