International Schools’ Athletic Championship 2023 this weekend
View(s):The official media conference for Inter-International Schools’ Athletic Championships 2023 was held at Lyceum International School, Nugegoda last week. The Inter International Schools’ Athletic Championship (ISAC) is the most important co-curricular event in the school calendar of all international schools. Initiated in 2001, the event has now established itself as the flagship sporting event of the country’s international schools.
Being Sri Lanka’s biggest and most exciting school sporting event, ISAC is held this weekend at the Sugathadasa Stadium Colombo, from 8.00a.m. to 6.00p.m. on both days, creating a grand platform for over 2,000 athletes representing all TISSL schools with over 100 sporting events.
This year, the 23 international schools participating are – Asian International School, Belvoir College International, The British School in Colombo, Burhani Serendib School, Colombo International School – Colombo, Colombo International School – Kandy, Elizabeth Moir International School, Gateway College – Colombo, Gateway College – Kandy, Horizon College International, Ilma International Girls School, Leeds International School, Lyceum International School Nugegoda, Lyceum International School Panadura, Lyceum International School Ratnapura, Lyceum International School Wattala, OKI International School, The Overseas School of Colombo, Royal Institute Colombo, St. Nicholas’ International School, Stafford International School, Wycherley International School Colombo and Wycherley International School Gampaha. Lyceum International School hosts the eighth edition of ISAC 2023.
During the past 20 years since its commencement, ISAC has elevated the standard of athletics among TISSL — affiliated international schools to an extent where it produces skilled, professional athletes who represent Sri Lanka at foreign track and field athletic championships. In order to continuously maintain high standards, ISAC 2023 will be conducted in accordance with the rules and regulations of TISSL, and those of the International Amateur Athletic Federation, which will include electronic timing and measurements.
Lyceum International Schools, as the official organiser of the ISAC 2023, will collaborate with British School in Colombo, Colombo International School, Gateway College, Leeds International School, OKI International School and Royal Institute, to ensure a successful event.
Several esteemed organisations and entities will sponsor the event, including two renowned corporate entities who have come forward to support ISAC 2023. Lyceum Campus signed up as the principal sponsor for ISAC 2023, along with co-sponsors ASRIEL Holdings, Chariot, SEVEN Media, Baraka Naturals Joint Ease and Sampath Bank. This year’s special sponsor is Pearson Education and the snack partner is Munchee, Sri Lanka.
Lankadeepa Online, Daily Mirror Online, Mirror Sports, Daily FT and Sunday Times Online generously offered support for digital media and web media sponsorship. The official media partner of this event is Dream Team Media who will be telecasting the entire event live on all social media channels.
Over 2,000 athletes from 23 international schools will compete in 130 events at the meet, in the categories of Under-7, Under-9, Under-11, Under-13, Under-15, Under-19 and Under-20 for both boys and girls.
There will be over 300 officials who will conduct the competition under the rules of the Amateur Athletic Association of Sri Lanka. Over 20,000 spectators including students, parents and staff members of all TISSL schools and cheering squads of participating schools are expected to be present on both days.
Web-based results and scores for ISAC 2023 are instantly accessible online, through the ISAC website http://isac.lyceum.lk, designed and developed by the Department of Information Technology of Lyceum International Schools. The website will provide all necessary information including past meet records and a full list of competitors for this year’s meet. During the special conference selected, invitees expressed their wishes, views and thoughts on ISAC with the crowd.
