M W Gunasena of Mabole, Wattala was awarded the ‘Weera Wickrama Sri Vibhooshana Dasa Senpathi’ award for his contributions in social services.

Mr Gunasena, who is an old boy of Udahamulla Junior School, Gurukula Vidyalaya, Kelaniya and Carey College Colombo, has been involved in social services and is a member of charity organisations. He has held many offices in such organisations since his school days.

He worked as Store Assistant (Executive Grade) in Ceylon Petroleum Corporation, at Kolonnawa. Now a retired senior citizen, he still devotes a lot of his time to social service. His service was appreciated by the Sri Lanka Citizen’s Foundation.
