St. Sebastian’s hold 14th annual Swimming Meet

Senitha Thenuwara won the Under-19 and Overall Championship of the event

St. Sebastian’s College, Moratuwa held its 14th annual Swimming Meet in gala fashion at the school’s Swimming Complex, where all swimmers of different age groups from the school took part. In the annual event, held mainly to encourage its swimmers and to attract youngsters of St. Sebastian’s, aspiring national swimmer Senitha Thenuwara became the overall champion, after claiming the Under-19 title, while young Meedum Mendis, who emerged the Under-17 winner, was named the Most Valuable Swimmer of the Year.

Salman Fariz won the Under-15 age category, while Helika Fernando emerged the Under-13 winner. Praveen Fernando claimed the Under-11 age category, after Senumith Suwandaratne won the Under-9 age category. During the event, the new captains were also appointed by the school authority.

Prominent past swimmers and senior swimmers, who reached the national level from St. Sebastian’s College also made their presence at the event, which was held under the auspicious of Rev. Fr. Sanjeewa Mendis, the Rector of the school.
