SLIIT Open Day 2023 concludes on a high note
View(s):SLIIT hosted its annual Open Day on February 25th, 2023, to showcase the abundant opportunities available to prospective students as they explored exciting future career pathways. The event provided glimpses of the Institute’s educational offerings, international transfer options and networks, employment opportunities, and engagement activities aimed at broadening students’ academic horizons. The day started off with a physical campus tour for prospective students and interested individuals. Throughout the day, prospective students were able to experience SLIIT first-hand, tour the campus facilities, including the state-of-the-art laboratories, and speak with Academic staff members from the faculties directly to get detailed information regarding their interested programmes.
The Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research and International), Deans, and respective Heads of faculties took the stage for two panel discussion sessions that provided an overview of SLIIT’s offerings. With insightful discussions and engaging presentations, students were able to gain valuable insights into the university’s programmes and campus life. Students were given a glimpse into the exciting world of their chosen field and were inspired to pursue their passions with vigour. As the sessions drew to a close, students were invited to participate in interactive Q&A sessions with experienced lecturers who answered their questions and provided invaluable advice. From the latest technological advancements in Computing to the intricacies of Business and Architecture, SLIIT’s faculty members were on hand to provide expert guidance and support.
As the annual Open Day event unfolded, SLIIT students were eager to showcase their talents and interests through various activities and events. The campus was dotted with stalls and presentations from student clubs and societies, such as AIESEC, ROTARACT, LEO Club, Sports Council, Civil Engineering society, IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers), faculty media clubs and many more. Their vibrant displays and interactive activities drew prospective students and aided them to realize the best career paths for them and desired passions. Adding to the events atmosphere were the entertainment activities, such as singing performances and flash mobs organised by student groups of SLIIT. Concurrently, Open Days were also held in Matara, Kandy, and Kurunegala centres.
