‘Venus United’, a musical by Jehan Aloysius
View(s):CentreStage Productions celebrates 22 years of original theatre with a hilarious and poignant new musical, ‘Venus United’ by Jehan Aloysius. The show which goes on the boards on March 17 & 18 at 7.30 p.m. at the Lionel Wendt Theatre is more for adult audiences.
The story revolves around three women in their mid to late 30s – a singer, a dancer and a performance therapist who attend a drama therapy workshop during which they discover more about themselves and grapple with their past relationships and vulnerabilities.
Written and composed by Jehan Aloysius, the score features an eclectic mix of musical theatre ballads, jazz, Latino rhythms and the blues.
The all-female cast features Shehara Liyanage, Ayushka Nugaliyadda and Nadine Ollegasegrem. Jehan’s musical compositions are performed by his long-time musical partner, Avanti Perera. The fairytale costume designs are by Vishan Gunawardana. Tickets are now available at the Lionel Wendt Theatre between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. on weekdays or 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. on weekends.
