Two students of Dharmadutha College in Badulla were killed and eight others were injured when their jeep toppled during a vehicle parade yesterday, Badulla Police officers said. Two of the injured students are in a critical condition.
The vehicle parade was being held on the second day of the school’s big match against Uva College. The annual match is known as the “Battle of Uva.”
The jeep was one that was usually used on safari trips. The Police had prevented the students from parading in the Badulla town. Later on, they held the parade in a newly opened ground.
