Fairfirst, HNB, CDB, Hayleys win
Fairfirst Insurance coasted to a 136-run win over CL Synergy Limited in a Mercantile Limited Overs game played at Colts cricket ground yesterday. After hitting 253 for the loss of 9 wickets, Wanuja Sahan (3/29), Asel Sigera (2/5) and Anuk Fernando (2/24) combined to bowl out CL Synergy for 117.
Batter Sandun Weerakkody led Hattion National Bank (HNB) to a close 2-wicket win over John Keells, after bowling out Keells for 137 runs inside 32 overs at NCC grounds. HNB reached the target in the 28th over for the loss of eight wickets with Weerakkody hitting a fighting 51. Madhuka Liyanpathiranage and Akila Dananjaya picked up four wickets apiece for the winner and the loser.
An unbeaten half century by Muditha Lakshan helped CDB cruise to a 3-wicket win over Mode Engineering in their match played at the P. Sara Oval. A disciplined bowling effort saw Mode Engineering being bowled out for 171 runs in the 44th over. CDB, though losing wickets, reached the target in the 27th over.
Hayleys Group ‘A’ pulled off a 38-run win over BBK Partnership in the match played in Katunayake. Though winner could muster 185 runs in their innings, they managed to restrict their opponent for 147.
