Indian scholarship programme for children in estate sector
View(s):The deadline for a scholarship programme for children of estate workers to continue their further education is on April 29, The Indian High Commission said. The Government of India has been extending scholarships for the children of estate workers for GCE A/L, undergraduate courses, and vocational/technical education in Government technical colleges in Sri Lanka.
Students who passed GCE O/L (with minimum 6 credit passes) or GCE A/L, and aged below 25 years, are eligible to apply for this scholarship.
The High Commission of India has invited applications for the award of these scholarships.
Application forms could be downloaded from the website www.hcicolombo.gov.in or obtained physically from the High Commission (No 36-38, Galle Road, Colombo 3), or the Assistant High Commission of India (1A, Mahamaya Mawatha, PO Box 47, Kandy).
Applicants are requested to submit the completed application forms along with photocopies of birth certificate, GCE O/L or A/L result sheet, latest salary slip of parents, and Estate Superintendent’s certificate regarding parents’ occupation.
Duly completed forms may be submitted physically or by post to ‘Honorary Secretary, CEWET c/o High Commission of India, PO Box 882, Colombo 3’ before April 29.
