‘Miracle’ spends second week on the chart
Calvin Harris & Ellie Goulding’s trance anthem ‘Miracle’ brushed aside any challenge as it completed a second consecutive week at No: 1 on the UK singles chart. Four weeks since debuting at No. 3, the song climbed to pole position. It is the third time producer and DJ Harris and singer-songwriter Goulding have collaborated, but the first time the duo has reached the No: 1 position. Their earlier collaborations ‘Need Your Love’ in 2012 and ‘Outside’ in 2014 were only top 10 hits.
Goulding is credited along with Adam Wiles, Pablo Bowman, Peter Rycroft and Mathew Burns for the lyrics. Harris and Burns produced the hit song. This is Goulding’s week as she also has her new album ‘Higher Than Heaven’ debut at the No. 1 spot on the UK album chart. It is the first time the 36-year-old has had double No: 1s in her career.
Single by Drake debuts on the UK Top 10
The only song to debut inside the UK top 10 singles is ‘Search & Rescue’ by Drake which came in at No: 5 to give Drake his 38th top 10 hit either as a lead or featured artist. Drake performs the current hit in monotone style with melodic piano and deep bass accompaniment. The song set in slow pace samples a brief dialogue between Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner from the famous reality show and builds up at the end. ‘Search & Rescue’ is currently a standalone track.
Ed Sheeran in the US
Ed Sheeran who recently scored his 14th No: 1 song with ‘Eyes Closed’ in the UK was in the US recently promoting his new album ‘-‘(Subtract). On April 10, Sheeran took a New York City busker Mike Yung by surprise as he was singing ‘Eyes Closed’ at the Church Avenue subway station in Brooklyn. Sheeran initially watched Yung sing and later joined in the song chorus. Yung 62, was rewarded with two tickets for Sheeran’s concert that night at the Kings Theatre.
Sheeran is currently taking a break and will resume his US tour on April 28 in New Orleans.
Nicki Minaj to appear in Lady Danger
Nicki Minaj is taking a major role in the upcoming animated series Lady Danger based on the comic book Dark Horse. The 40-year-old artist is to voice the lead role as well as be executive producer with Curtis Jackson aka 50 Cent.
