HelpAge Vesak cards help free cataract surgeries
View(s):HelpAge Sri Lanka (HASL), this year too, has released over 400,000 Vesak greeting cards. The proceeds from sales will be utilised to perform free cataract surgeries of marginalised, senior citizens in the country. The surgeries are performed at HelpAge Eye Hospital, Sinsapa Road, Wellawatta, Colombo 6.
The greeting cards are adorned with colourful photographs, paintings and graphic designs, and some of them are embossed and foiled. As the Vesak season is coming closer, anyone who wishes to contribute towards HelpAge’s free cataract surgery programme could now be a partner of this worthy cause by purchasing greeting cards.
HelpAge Executive Director Samantha Liyanawaduge said HelpAge Eye Hospital has performed 46,000 cataract surgeries islandwide. He said any less-privileged citizen over 55 years could have his/her cataract surgery at HelpAge Eye Hospital free of charge. HelpAge welcomes donations to carry out cataract surgeries continuously.
The cards are on sale at leading book shops, super centres, and at HelpAge Head Office, No 102, Pemananda Mawatha, Rattanapitiya, Borelasgamuwa. For further details contact on 0112803752/53/54, 0114926948.
