MSU & MSI Students Annual Charity Event, “ySk j,g mKla”

The students of Bachelor in Hospitality & Tourism Management (Hons) in collaboration with Event Management students of Management & Science Institute (MSI) are excited to present their upcoming musical event, “ySk j,g mKla’’ on Friday 26th May, 2023. This event is expected to attract more than 3500 attendees and is organised to support Apeksha Hospital, Maharagama. The aim of this event is to raise funds to donate medicine and medical equipment to the Apeksha hospital as well as to partially meet day-to-day operations of the hospital.
Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a set of 17 global goals set by the United Nations to achieve a sustainable future for all. This event contributes to several SDGs, including Good Health and Well-being (SDG 3), Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure (SDG 9), and Partnerships for the Goals (SDG 17).
MSU currently ranks in the QS Top 100 among the world’s top young universities, QS World University Rankings 2023, Asia Ranking 2023, Times Higher Education Top 101-150 in Art and Design, Top 46 in Hospitality & Leisure Management, and Top 301-350 in Business/ Management in QS world subject ranking.

This event is organising under the guidance given by the President of MSU & MSI Prof Dr. Mohd Shukr Ab. Yajid, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Junainah Abd Hamid. All the time, MSU empathises to produce best graduates to the society with social consciousness and has its vision of transforming lives enriching future through quality education. MSU proudly offers its award-winning industry recognised degrees in Sri Lanka through Management & Science Institute (MSI) in several key disciplines that are geared to meet the needs of the expanding business landscape. Offering professional education to meet global industry demands, the key focus of MSI is to develop knowledge and skills in students and prepare them to obtain employment opportunities through higher studies. Upon completion of the Diploma programmes which leads to the Bachelor (Hons) Degree, students can choose to continue their higher studies in Sri Lanka, Malaysia or at any of the partner universities worldwide including those in the United Kingdom, Australia, Germany, Canada and Japan.
Through this event we expect our students to gain practical experience in event management and organisational skills. Also, we make the students responsible for the planning, organising, and execution of the event, which requires them to manage various aspects, such as logistics, budgeting, marketing, and communication. This experience is valuable as it provides the students with hands-on experience in real-world scenarios, which can help them in their future careers.
Secondly, the students are developing their interpersonal and teamwork skills. The event requires collaboration between different departments and individuals, and the students must work together efficiently to ensure the success of the event. Through this collaboration, the students learn how to communicate effectively, negotiate, and work in a team, which are essential skills in any professional setting.
Thirdly, the students are learning about the importance of social responsibility and giving back to the community. By organizing this event to support the Apeksha Hospital, the students are contributing to society and making a positive impact on the lives of others. This experience can help the students develop a sense of empathy and social consciousness, which are essential qualities in responsible leaders.
The students have worked tirelessly to ensure that this event is a huge success promises to be a great night of music and entertainment while making a positive impact on the community. They have organized various activities and performances to keep the attendees entertained throughout the event. The students have also invited several renowned artists and musicians to perform at the event, which will provide the attendees with a memorable experience.
