National Education Policy Framework to be formulated
View(s):Cabinet approved the preparation of a new National Education Policy Framework this week.
Amidst the process of establishing economic stability in the country, the Government has recognised the field of Education as one of the vital sectors that need to be reformed urgently. Therefore, a new Education policy is to be formulated and implemented with the participation of all parties concerned.
Accordingly, the Cabinet of Ministers granted approval for the proposal submitted by President Ranil Wickremesinghe to appoint a Cabinet sub-committee composed of 10 members.
It is chaired by the President, with the participation of Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena and Education Minister Susil Premajayantha. The committee is required to submit all reformations to Parliament and implement them on priority basis. It is to provide necessary instructions and guidance for furnishing the National Education Policy Framework for the next 25 years.
