Hayleys ‘A’, CL Synergy book final berths
Hayleys Group ‘A’ and CL Synergy Ltd entered the final of the 30th Singer MCA Premier League cricket tournament when they defeated CDB ‘A’ and Fairfirst Insurance respectively in the semi-final encounters played yesterday.
At the MCA ground Hayleys ‘A’ coasted to a convincing 7-wicket victory with T.N. Sampath (61 off 51 ball with 4×6, 6×4) and Ron Chandragupta (57 with 4×5, 6×1) sharing a valuable 111-run stand for the second wicket. This was followed by an unbroken 59-run stand for the fourth wicket between Ashen Bandara and Nuwanindu Fernando who scored unbeaten knocks of 41 and 40 in pursuit of 206 runs for victory to reach the target with ease in the 31st over.
The match between CL Synergy Ltd and Fairfirst Insurance played at Katunayake turned out to be a one sided affair with the former pulling off a comfortable 8-wicket win in a low scoring affair. CL Synergy, after bundling out their opponents for a low total of 62 runs, was guided by openers Navod Paranavithana and Chamindu Wickramasinghe as both gave a flying start putting on 59 runs to help race to the target of 63 runs with the minimum fuss in the seventh over.
