From replicating the iron throne from the popular television series Game of Thrones to creating metal animal figures, talented metal craftsmen are finding a demand for the creative use of discarded metal.

K Subasinghe, from Gunoja Metal Works at Nugegoda, said that though they are in the business of metal grills, gates, and roofing, since recently there are more requests from customers who want unique works of art.

“We have a growing demand, some customers want us to come to their residences and build metal figurines, wall hangings. We have done animals using motor parts and discarded metal pieces,” he said.

From hunting for nuts and bolts from Panchikawatte spare parts shops, to carefully creating a masterpiece, these craftsmen are committed to produce wonderful works of art.
