Saajida clinches Women’s Open title

Saajida Razick clinched the Women’s Open Singles title at the 108th Colombo Tennis Championship beating Dinara de Silva in a closely contested final played at the SLTA tennis courts yesterday. Saajida though taking the first set with ease, was given a fright by Dinara, who took the second set before she came back to take the third set with ease to clinch the title.

Meanwhile Thehan Wijemanne along with Apna Perera, Ashen Silva and Luca Knese qualified to the Men’s Open Singles semi-finals after winning their quarter-final encounters. The foursome came out winners by 2-0 with Thehan defeating Hasal Ahanga, Apna overcoming Nimalraj Thatheuraj, Ashen getting the better of Ruwan Fernando and Luca beating Zaidh Zihar.
