The Jaffna Police are taking steps to network all students of Jaffna girl’s schools and their parents using Whatsapp technology.

Deputy Inspector General of Police for Jaffna Manjula Senerath instructed all Jaffna Police stations to ensure that students are put into Whatsapp groups which are monitored by school principals and teachers.

Through this, parents could supervise children easily.

A senior Police officer said the main objective was to ensure the safety of students, while parents and teachers have the ability to stay updated. DIG Senerath has also given instructions to Police stations to collect information on all drivers of vehicles (including buses) that bring schoolgirls to school.
