Parakrama pays theatrical tributes to Pathi and Jagoda
View(s):Reviving the memory of two masters in film and theatre, late Dharmasena Pathiraja and Dhamma Jagoda, veteran filmmaker, playwright and teledrama director Parakrama Niriella will present the new production of renowned play ‘Kora Saha Andaya’ in Colombo.
‘Kora Saha Andaya’ is originally written by the late Dharmasena Pathiraja and directed by Dhamma Jagoda in 1970. It was premiered on September 8, 1970. Wimal Kumar de Costa and Daya Tennakoon performed two main roles of the drama which had over 100 successful performances.
Main roles in the new version of Parakrama’s ‘Kora Saha Andaya’ are performed by Sanjeewa Upendra and Chaminda Batukotuwa.
The other drama ‘Walahadiya’ (The Boor) farcical drama has been a work by Russian writer dramatist Anton Checkov and it is translated by Parakrama Niriella himself
Performances of the ‘Walahadiya’ are done by Mahebdra Weeraratne, Tilani Mahamalage and Ajith Lokuge. Dilip Rohana works as the assistant director of the twin drams while Jude Srimal is the organiser. Jagath Padmasiri is the art director, Gamini Indraratne is lighting, Thilina Meegahatenne stage superviser together with Lahiru Samararatne and Nethmi Ranasinghe are the other contributors to the dramas.

6.30 pm on
July 7 at the Lumbini Theatre,Havelock Town, Colombo
