The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) has claimed it has settled accumulated arrears of roughly Rs. 4 billion to rooftop solar unit users.

All arrears up to April 2023 have now been resolved, the CEB’s Additional General Manager, Eng. G.I.D.H.K. Ranasinghe said.

“Although the settlement of previous debt is not included in the tariff, the utility has managed to set off the settlement of monthly bills from internal cash generation and by raising loans from financial institutions with the implementation of a cost-reflective tariff on February 15, 2023,” he said.

Sri Lankan solar system users generate about 700 MW of power and this is regarded as a significant contribution when compared to the country’s daily peak power usage of 2700 MW.
