Chilaw coast sea erosion impacted by monsoon

View(s):

The onset of the monsoon has increased sea erosion in the coastal areas of the Chilaw district.

The newly carpeted road from Chilaw to Wennapuwa has been damaged and several coconut trees have been uprooted due to gale winds.

The sea erosion  has adversely affected the fishermen of the area too as it has impacted the beach stretch.

Residents say the highway has not been constructed properly and the erosion has caused damage to it.

Officials complain there are no funds to attend to the damage caused by the erosion.
