Centurions Thevindu and Sehandu
Sehindu Sooriyarachchi and Thevindu Wewalwala were involved in a record-breaking partnership as Royal College, Colombo totally dominated traditional rivals S. Thomas’ College, Mt. Lavinia in an Under-15 Inter-School Division I cricket encounter played earlier this week. Featuring in an unbroken partnership of 209 runs for the fourth wicket, as both Sehindu and Thevindu hit unbeaten centuries.
Thevindu remained unbeaten on 108 off 118 deliveries, inclusive of 18 boundaries, while Thevindu’s unbeaten 101 came off just 98 balls, including 10 boundaries and two sixes.
Royal declared on 282 for the loss of 4 wickets when both middle-order batsmen reached their centuries, and skittled out S. Thomas’ for 62 with Usitha Illeperuma and Sehindu, returning from his valuable ton, claiming three wickets each. Royal took first innings honours, as they were placed at 116 for the loss of six wickets when the game came to an end.
