Chilaw Marians thrashed Bloomfield by an innings and 104 runs on day two of the SLC 3-day Major League Cricket match at Reid Avenue yesterday. In response to Chilaw Marians’ 344 all out in the first innings, the home team managed scores of 103 and 137 respectively in both essays. Keshara Nuwantha was the pick of the bowlers, claiming a match bag of 8 for 103, including a five-fer in the second innings. Nipuna Premaratne had figures of 5 for 29 in the first innings as he combined with Nuwantha to bowl the hosts out for a paltry 103 in the first innings.

Meanwhile Ragama CC left-arm spinner Shashika Dulshan grabbed headlines last evening when he claimed a hat-trick on his way to return figures of 5 for 86 in their match against Panadura SC at Thurstan grounds. Dulshan had Rajeewa Weerasinghe caught behind for 25 runs before trapping Vishwa Lahiru and Yashan Avishka leg before in successive deliveries to end Panadura’s first innings on 396. In response, Ragama were 217 for 2 with openers Lahiru Thirimanne (84) and Nishan Madushka (69) sharing 162 runs for the first wicket.

In the match between Colts and BRC, Angelo Mathews slammed his second consecutive century–a masterful 172 with 18 fours and four sixes in his 263 ball innings for Colts at Colts ground. Last week Mathews scored 124 against Kandy Customs.
