Ministry meets Australian and German delegates to expand opportunities
View(s):Education Minister Dr Susil Premajayantha, this week, met with two separate delegations from Australia and Germany to look into possibilities of expanding education opportunities with Sri Lanka.
The Minister held a special meeting with Australia’s Shadow Minister for Multicultural Affairs, Community Safety and Migrant Services, Jason Wood, at the Office of the Leader of the House of Parliament.
They held an extensive discussion on increasing the Australian higher education opportunities offered to Sri Lanka, and Minister Premajayantha pointed out the ongoing transformative education reform process in Sri Lanka.
Minister Premajayantha also held a discussion with the visiting Member of German Parliament, Ria Schröder, who is also a Member of the Committee on Education, Research, Technology and Evaluation in Germany, at the Office of the Leader of the House of Parliament.
The Minister apprised the German MP about the performance of the Ceylon German Technical Training Institute, which operates under the patronage of the German Government.
Measures to further expand the teaching of German language in Lankan schools were also discussed.
