Education Ministry launches mobile service to resolve schools issues
View(s):The Education Ministry will launch a mobile service to resolve issues in schools coming under the purview of the Provincial Council system from this week, Education Minister Susil Premajayantha said.
The move is to ensure the smooth functioning of Provincial Council-run schools in the absence of the political administration.
Minister Premajayantha and a team of officials led by the Ministry Secretary will take part in the mobile service programme which is expected to cover all 9 provinces.
The ministry has set itself an end of October target to visit all the provinces.
The first of the programmes started on Friday in the Uva Province.
Governors of the provinces will be present.
Minister Premajayantha said that the shortage of teachers, review of Grade 5 scholarship exam results, GCE O/L and GCE A/L, issues about construction of building, and improving sanitary facilities are among issues to be taken up.
Teacher transfer issues will also be discussed at the mobile service programme.
He added that they would try and resolve all issues during the mobile service and those that cannot be resolved will be brought to Colombo to be resolved. “Since it is a mobile service we will be able to resolve most of the questions at ground level,” he said.
