Teachers with deliberate thinking power and nurture leadership with the intention of increasing student achievements with activity-based , child-centred education is the main factor affecting for preparing teaching workforce with high- quality. It is important to pay a significant attention for the process of selecting high – quality workers for the teaching profession.
Authorities of High performing countries, pay the major attention, for this selection process in order to get quality teachers for their education system. Considering the global educational situations, mainly in high–performing countries, teachers are provided with licence. This license system is more important to increase the status of teaching. To be more confident in quality and training level of teachers, this type of licence system is urgently requested . Teacher preparation and moulding up characters to match with the profession of teaching is done at the University level.
Teacher can identify clearly the student in the classroom, by doing student- based action researches relevant to the student behaviour pattern, subject area and the learning-teaching environment etc. So in these countries research based Master degrees are highly requested, to appoint a licenced teacher.
In order to create a quality teacher for the 21st century, this type of license system should be introduced in Sri Lanka too. Teachers with licence, will easily drive the students to meet the expectations of 21st century. Teachers with updated licence will do a better job in the school system as they intellectually match with the explosion of knowledge in the fast moving world. Therefore 21st century teacher should be updated with new knowledge and experience which accumulate in the fast changing world continuously.

Teacher should make learning more relevant and should provide students make with multiple means of representing information by using various of up to-date materials.
Teacher must be able to adapt the teaching style, in order to include different modes of learning, according the practice and needs of the students.
SMART 21st century teacher, should consider the each student as unique. Therefore, should create learning opportunities and strategies to best suit their needs.
21st century teacher him/herself is a lifelong learner. Teacher should be a role model for their students in every aspect. Teacher’s balanced personality and intellectual capacity motivates the student’s well-balanced personality and multitalented skills automatically. As students, they acquire knowledge in many ways in the classroom. No need to spoon–feed them.
These teachers should be creative problem solvers. They take complex topics which are broader. Break them into simple steps in order to manage them easily. Then even the reluctant students can understand easily.
They are highly intuitive. When the student is struggling, they can sense. Then provide prompt support to overcome the difficulty.
They are experts in student management. They manage their students in efficient and effective manner. They provide support to achieve their goals accordingly.
In this manner, if the teacher changes the teaching style to match with the expectations of the 21st century, the production of the classroom definitely will fulfil the requirement of the fast-changing global society.
