Rev.Fr.Ranjith Andradi- The Rector/Principal of St.Joseph’s College, Colombo 10 Celebrates 30th Ordination Anniversary

St.Joseph’s College, Colombo 10, is the Premier Catholic Educational Institute in Sri Lanka, which stands majestically today having done yeoman service to the students past and the present besides our Motherland. The College has proven that it has been been well known for Education, Sports, Co-Curricular and Extra-curricular activities and Spiritual upliftment, thus produced a galaxy of Josephians in all walks of life who have brought glory and honour to their Alma Mater. The novelty of this hall of fame educational Institute is that it has pedagogues’ who have been crafting, moulding and sculpting students in order to transform them as the resolute leaders of the society at large.
Rev Fr Ranjith Andradi the 14th Recto
Rev.Fr.Ranjith Andradi is the Renowned 14th Rector of this sacred Institute and he has rendered yeoman service to uplift and maintain the high standards of discipline, education, sports and spirituality which was quiet evident with the performances and the results which is highly appreciated by the Josephian Fraternity. His services are highly commendable as he always believes in “Going for the Extra Mile” and it has given the College a resounding success.
On the 31st of July 2023, he celebrated his 30th Ordination Anniversary. Born on November 6th, 1968, in Payagala, he belongs to a family of eight. His father, Mr. D.M.J.Andradi, was a devout Catholic. His mother, Mrs. Lucy Suwaris, is a kindhearted lady. He has six brothers and two sisters.His elder brother is Rev.Fr.Kamal Andradi, is a Jesus Priest. Rev.Fr.Ranjith Andradi is the youngest in the family.
He entered St.Aloysius Seminary and was ordained a Priest on July 31, 1993. He was appointed an Assistant Priest in Grand street, Negombo. He then took over duties as assistant parish priest of St.Mary’s Church, Dehiwala, in 1994. He was appointed as the Primary Principal, Middle School Principal as well as Prefect of Games at St.Joseph’s College, Colombo 10, in 1996. Under his guidance the school obtained numerous achievements in academic, sports as well as other extra and co-curricular activities.
In 2005, he went to the United Kingdom and completed a Master’s Degree and on his return in 2007, he was reappointed to St.Joseph’s College, Colombo 10. He served the college with dedication, passion and commitment.
In 2008, he was appointed as the Principal of St.Joseph’s College, Wattala Branch. His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith appointed Rev.Fr.Ranjith Andradi, as the Rector of the College on the 10th November 2010. Under his able administration, a pleasant school environment was created and he worked hard to improve the image of the school with each passing day.
A modern auditorium, science laboratory, modern computer centre, a chapel devoted to St.Joseph as well as a library were constructed through his efforts. Two playgrounds for cricket and basketball were also erected during his tenure. It was a result of his farsighted vision and foresight as well as administrative capabilities.
In 2014, he was appointed as the Rector of Loyola College, Negombo and in 2015, as the Rector of St.Joseph;s College, Negombo.
He devoted his life to uplift the college he was affiliated to. In 2016, he was appointed as the Rector of St.Sebastian’s College, Moratuwa.
In 2019, He was appointed as the 14th Rector of St.Joseph’s College, Colombo 10. Since then his untiring efforts, meticulous and laborious work with precision, enthusiasm, determination, innovativeness, creativity, highest standard, care, courage, unwavering commitment, razor sharp focus, resilience, perseverance and discipline and dedication have helped St.Joseph’s College, Colombo 10, tremendously to reach greater heights in the field of Education, Sports, Co-curricular and Extra-Curricular activities and Spritual upliftment. His resilient approach to bounce back from the recent pandemic was noteworthy and praiseworthy. The College celebrated its Quasquicentennial Celebrations under the Rectorship of Rev.Fr.Ranjith Andradi, the Rector and Principal of St.Joseph’s College, Colombo 10. The Sacred Josephian Chapel and the entire school building network was refurbished during his tenure as the Rector of our Alma Mater. He uplifted the standards of education with the introduction of SMART BOARDS which has led the young Josephians to perform extremely well inspite of severe competitions. It is only his time as the Rector, three Old Josephians played cricket for our National Team and one young Josephian captained the Sri Lankan under 19 Cricket team and few others played with him to bring glory and honour to our Alma Mater and the Nation.
We became the Swimming Champions for the 17th consecutive year during his period as our Rector. We have also become the Champions of Cricket, Basketball and Football and produced many individual Josephian Champions in Sports including Tennis. Many meaningful spiritual programmes were also organized by him successfully.
He has rendered his noble work to St.Joseph’s College, Colombo 10, as a great administrator, Good Shepherd, Pedagogue, Preacher, Guardian and advisor par excellence.
As Josephians young and the old, living locally and globally greatly admire, appreciate and sincerely thank Rev.Fr.Ranjith Andradi, the Rector, Principal and the President of Old Boys’ Union of St.Joseph’s College for his magnificent and great contributions made to our Alma Mater, the Motherland and the universe.
He has preached us many inspiring, meaningful and uplifting life lessons and I had the opportunity to listen to his recent sermon held at his 30th Ordination Anniversary Celebration at St.Joseph’s College, Colombo 10, Sports Auditorium. One of the inspiring message given to us was the to
“ find joy, you need to put Jesus(J) first and Others(O) next and put Yourself (Y) last”. This is the secret of finding Joy within. Also, he preached us to be readily available for others as they may need our helping hand and love.
Thank you may seem too short to express our gratitude to our Reverend Father Rector. We are greatly indebted to him. May God bless him abundantly with Joy, Happiness, continued Success, Good Health, Serenity, divine grace, strength to serve the Lord’s vineyard for many more decades to come.
May his noble work continue for the people of God.
