Geo Ventures Travel helps SL students find internships in Russia
View(s):Geo Ventures Travel & Consultancy Services (GVTCS) recently entered into an MOU with“Alabuga”Special Economic Zone. Russia’s most successful economic zone to help find Sri Lankan students to join their “Alabuga Start 2023” programme – an accredited internship programme by many partner countries such as Uganda, Ethopia, Nigeria, Tanzania and Pakistan.
The programme includes a dual system meaning that the participants get the knowledge and work getting the practical experience from the very first week of arrival, the local company said in a media release.
Speaking about the new collaboration its Managing Director Ms.Shiranee Fernando said the “Alabuga start” programme is providing an opportunity to students of lower income families to join “Alabuga”Special Economic Zone as interns.
These interns will get the hands on experience in the fields of logistics, catering, production, manufacturing, service and hospitality and some other areas. One such opportunity is training of female students as crane operators and this would revolutionise the job market in Sri Lankan construction and heavy duty industry.
Representatives of “Alabuga” Special Economic Zone led by Konstantin Trifonov, senior HR Specialist visited Sri Lanka recently and had many interactions with Sri Lankan students and parents. He expressed his satisfaction with the interest shown by Sri Lankan students and said their zone is already working with many countries and we are happy to add Sri Lanka as its newest beneficiary. He also assured that “Alabuga” SEZ will provide free air ticket, preferential housing, internal transport and a reasonable allowance to all interns and at the end of the training period all interns will have a comprehensive knowledge of the Russian Language. Moreover “Alabuga” SEZ negotiated and agreed with the Russian college on providing an education for the participants remotely as one more benefit of the programme.
The first batch of students will leave the country in August 2023 to join the programme.
