Pattiwilage Pramod Gayan Fernando from Thambarawila Parish in the Chilaw Diocese is poised to achieve an extraordinary milestone on August 12th, 2023. This momentous day will witness his ordination as a priest at the Church ‘Ecco Homo’ in Calvaruso, Sicily, Italy.
Born on April 19th, 1994, to his proud parents, Mr. P. Justin Fernando and Mrs. Neeta Obris, Bro. Pramod Gayan Fernando emerged as the youngest amongst his three siblings. His academic journey commenced at Nainamadama Government School, Sri Lanka, where he laid the foundation for his future endeavours.
Fueled by a deep-seated vocation and nurtured by unyielding determination, he embarked on a unique path by relocating to Italy. In 2014, he entered the TOR Franciscan Seminary, where he harnessed his spirituality and honed his theological insights. His devotion led him to the doors of the Theological College of St. Thomas Aquinas in Messina, an institution renowned for shaping theological luminaries.
With unwavering commitment, he successfully pursued his theological studies and attained graduation from the prestigious Pontifical University of Anthonianum in Rome. This esteemed accomplishment underscores his intellectual prowess and dedication to his sacred calling.
Rev. Fr. Pramod Gayan’s inaugural Eucharistic Celebration Mass is scheduled for August 13th, 2023, at the Church of St. Elijah the Prophet in Messina, Italy. This momentous event will be organised under the guidance of Rev. Fr. Xystus Perera, Chaplain of TRO Messina, testifying to the unity and camaraderie among the faithful.
