Latrobe University – Horizon Campus Commences Sessions For The Degree Pathway Programme In Sri Lanka
View(s):Horizon Campus, Malabe recently held the orientation programme and class commencement for the La Trobe University degree pathway students at its state of the art, modern campus premises at Knowledge City Malabe. The event was attended by Prof. Amalia Di Lorio, the Pro Vice Chancellor, Educational Partnerships at La Trobe University as well as the respective Deans of the Faculties of Information Technology and Business of the University. The students who were commencing the
Diploma programmes in Business/IT and Engineering as well as the parents were warmly welcomed by the senior management of Horizon Campus as well as the University delegation where the students were given the assurance of a seamless transition into La Trobe University and their respective degree programmes through the Diploma pathway route.
The joint Programme between LTU and HCL sees students enrolling in a one-year diploma in Sri Lanka, taught by Horizon Campus staff, but following the La Trobe syllabus. The diploma offers a pathway to degree completion at La Trobe University in Australia, provided that the students meet the academic entry requirements.
The Diploma of Business offers pathways to nine specializations, including Digital Business, Enterprise, Event Management, Finance, Human Resource Management, International Business, Management, Marketing, and Tourism and Hospitality. Students in this programme can also pursue a Bachelor of Accounting or Bachelor of Business Analytics degree through the Diploma in Business pathway.
For students interested in Engineering, the Diploma of Engineering provides a pathway to a Bachelor of Civil Engineering (Hons) or Bachelor of Engineering Honours (Industrial) The programme provides a comprehensive understanding of foundational concepts in mathematics, physics, and programming, where students will learn to apply these concepts to tackle engineering problems and implement creative solutions. Upon completion of the Diploma, students can apply for advanced standing to enter La Trobe’s Bachelor of Civil Engineering (Honours) or Bachelor of Engineering Honours (Industrial). With the programme’s focus on hands-on learning and practical experience, students will be well-prepared to start a successful career in engineering.
The Diploma of Information Technology offers a pathway to a Bachelor of Information Technology with specializations in Software Engineering, Data Science or Artificial Intelligence. Offering a comprehensive curriculum in core IT subjects, upon completion, students could receive up to one year’s worth of course credit, known as advanced standing, which can be used to directly transfer into the second year of their chosen IT degree programme.
