All arrangements have been finalised to host the 48th annual Sri Lanka Schools All-Island Aquatic Championship, with Nestle’s Milo coming forward as the main sponsor for yet another year. Set to be held from August 23 to 27 at the Sugathadasa Swimming Complex in Colombo, the meet will offer a national platform for over 5000 youngsters representing over 200 schools from all over the country, to showpiece their talents in swimming and diving.

Organised by the Sri Lanka Schools’ Aquatic Sports Association, the championship will have competitions from Under-10 to Under-20 in six age categories for boys and girls with a total tally of 164 events. Out of the total events, 140 will be held as individual events while 24 will be relays.

The top three finishers of all age categories will receive medals and certificates, while certificates will be presented for those who achieve the qualifier time in Under-10 and Under-12 age categories. The remaining age categories of Under-14, Under-16, Under-18 and Under-20 will be also eligible for 27 trophies presented for individuals and the best school.

The trophies on offer are for Junior and Senior Champion in Junior and Senior categories for boys and girls in addition to mixed schools and overall championship titles in boys and girls. A total of 5098 entries have been received so far out of which 3010 are boys and 2088 are girls from a total of 252 schools from all provinces in both swimming and diving.

At the previous event held in 2022 Lyceum International School, Wattala won the Mixed School Championship, while St. Joseph’s College and Visakha Vidyalaya won the Boys’ and Girls’ Championships respectively.
