Greek youth choir to perform here
View(s):The SS Cyril & Methodios Youth Choir will take the stage on September 1 at 7.30 p.m. at the Lionel Wendt Theatre to present ‘Young Greek Voices’ – To Sri Lanka with Love.
Making a guest appearance at the show will be the Soul Sounds Academy Choir conducted by Shivanthi Subramaniam and directed by Soundarie David Rodrigo.
Enjoying success as one of Greece’s leading choral ensembles, the SS Cyril & Methodios Choir of Thessaloniki, Greece, founded in 1992 by its current Director Dr. Maria Emma Meligopoulou, comprises more than 250 children and youth in its five choral departments.
The choir collaborates regularly with the Thessaloniki State Orchestra, the Thessaloniki Municipality Symphonic Orchestra, in large scale opera productions such as Beethoven’s 9th Symphony, Orff’s Carmina Burana, Vivaldi’s Gloria etc. Its repertoire spans from the Renaissance to contemporary music, with emphasis on Greek composers and European sacred music.
